Acting head coach of the Ukraine national team, coach of the youth national team and coach of Oleksandria Ruslan Rotan told about his style of soccer.
- "Rotan-style" is there this know-how of Yevhen Gres, who invented it all in his social networks?
- It's hard for me to say. It was so called on the sidelines. Maybe when Yevgeny wrote it on instagram, it all jumped out. We're trying to play soccer with structure, the kind of football we want to play, the kind of football we started with the first youth team born in 1998. We've picked up players who can play soccer.
- Succinctly and succinctly name the basic principles of your soccer.
- Exit from the defense, structure.
- Coming out of the defense through a short or middle pass?
- Not always, there has to be a balance. We must not always do it, it must depend on how the opponent is positioned. We must analyze the opponent and then build our transition from defence to attack.
Let me give you an example of the match against Metalist 1925. We understood that they would not cover us from the penalty area. Therefore, we have already built the game from the middle of the field. In the endgame phase, the players must make mechanisms that will confuse the opponent: runs, short passes, completions, stays in the end zone and rebounds, and completely cover the opponent.
- I understand that you're trying to work something in the final third?
- That's what we're working on. I think we have to do extra options for the players. In the final third, it's the skill of the players, but there are situations they can create: running behind the back, putting pressure on the opponent's defensive block.
- Can we call something unique about a game where players just pass a lot and do one rotation where the fullbacks go to the linebacker position?
- I don't want to please anyone. It's everyone's principles. Some people like the upright game. I do not want to convince anyone that my style of soccer is the game of the future. I like modern soccer and I take the best from it. We do it together with my assistants.
