Which seasons were the most successful in the history of Kyiv Dynamo, the team that will celebrate its 95th anniversary in May 2022? Undoubtedly, there are two such seasons.

"Dynamo" of 1986

In 1975 Dynamo won two European Cups. Beating Budapest's Ferencvaros 3-0 in Basel on May 14, Kyivians won their first European trophy. And in autumn, having beaten twice the owner of the Champions Cup, the base team of the Federal Republic of Germany - Bayern Munich (1-0 away and 2-0 at home) Valeriy Lobanovskiy`s team became the UEFA Super Cup winners. At the same time Oleg Blokhin, the author of three goals, which were scored by Sepp Maier, became the owner of the Golden Ball in 1975.

The year 1986 was also a happy and memorable for the team from the banks of the Dnieper. On May 2, in Lyon, in the final of the Cup Winners' Cup, the Kiev side met with Atletico Madrid. As in Basel 11 years earlier, the Bilo-Syni once again thrashed their opponent 3-0, with Zavarov, Blokhin and Yevtushenko scoring. Their partners in the final were Chanov, Bessonov, Baltacha, Bal, Kuznetsov, Demyanenko, Rats, Yakovenko, Yaremchuk and Belanov.

On the way to their second Cup Winners' Cup Dynamo knocked out Dutch Utrecht, Romanian Universitate, Austrian Rapid and Czechoslovakian Dukla, scoring a total of 26 goals in the rivals' goal.

In the final home game of the championship of the USSR-1986 with Dynamo Moscow "Kiev" was satisfied with only victory. December 7, in the presence of 100 thousand fans in Kiev won his field - 2-1, the authors of the "golden" goal were Rats and Belanov.

Lobanovsky's team was one point ahead of Moscow team and two points ahead of Spartak Moscow. This was the 12th set of championship medals of Dynamo Kiev in the history of the USSR championship. At the same time Oleg Blokhin became the champion of the country for the seventh time, repeating the achievement of his former teammate Vladimir Muntean, and Valery Lobanovsky, who leads Dynamo, also won the seventh championship title for 13 years as coach of the "white-blue", which is a record coaching achievement in soccer of the former Soviet Union.

And that is not all achievements of Dynamo Kiev in that memorable 1986. Igor Belanov became the second Dynamo player to win the Golden Ball. In the survey of France Football magazine the Ukrainian scored 84 points, ahead of Englishman Harry Lineker (62) and Spaniard Emilio Butragueño (59).

In 1986, according to the World Soccer poll, Dynamo Kiev was named the second team in the world, Valeriy Lobanovskiy was the second coach, and Igor Belanov was the second player. Dynamo players were also awarded with such individual and team prizes: Oleksandr Zavarov was named the best player of the USSR-1986 championship, Viktor Chanov was awarded with the best goalkeeper prize and Oleg Blokhin became the first owner of the prize "Loyalty to the club".

12 Dynamo players from Kyiv were included into the list of 33 best, the ninth time the prize named after Grigoriy Fedotov as the most productive team of the season (53 goals scored) went to Dynamo. As well as the Audience Choice Award also went to the city on the banks of the Dnieper. And in June 13 Dynamo players from Kyiv went to the World Cup in Mexico as the USSR national team led by Valeriy Lobanovskiy.

That was the memorable season 1986 in the history of Kyiv Dynamo - the most titled team in soccer in Ukraine. Dear friends, love Dynamo, support Dynamo and Dynamo will return the favor to you. Good luck to you and our Dynamo!
