UEFA announced on its official website the appointment of ethics and discipline inspectors to investigate a possible violation by Barcelona of the union's legal framework.
The inspectors will reportedly investigate a potential violation of UEFA's legal framework by Barcelona because of the Negreira affair. Jose Negreira is the former vice president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) Technical Committee of Referees, who was paid by Barcelona.
According to unofficial information, UEFA may suspend Barcelona for one season from the European Cups because the organization's regulations say the following: "If a club is directly or indirectly involved in any activity aimed at organizing or influencing the result of a match at national or international level - UEFA will declare that club to be ineligible to participate in the competition. The disqualification will only apply for one soccer season".
It is known that UEFA may announce its decision on the case in early summer
