Italy - England match review:
Italy hosted England at Maradona's Diego Armando Stadium in a highly anticipated European Championship qualifying match. Fans were in for a tense showdown between the two teams for the championship. The match started in favor of the English, as midfielder D. Rice scored in the 13th minute, giving England an early lead. However, victory was far from assured as Italy put up stubborn resistance. England's Rice received a yellow card in the 29th minute, and in the 44th minute, H. Kane kicked a penalty, and the score was 0-2 at halftime. At halftime, Italy's coach made some crucial substitutions, replacing N. Barella and D. Berardi with B. Cristante and M. Politano. The changes seemed to have benefited Italy, as M. Retegui scored in the 56th minute, bringing the score closer to England's advantage.
Tension between the two teams was palpable, resulting in yellow cards for J. Grealish and H. Maguire of England and Jorginho of Italy. The England coach also tried to shake up his team by replacing Grealish with P. Foden in the 69th minute, but the Italy coach had a few more tricks up his sleeve, replacing Jorginho with S. Tonali, and L. Pellegrini for V. Gnonto. England's advantage slipped away, however, as C. Walker, L. Shaw and F. Acerbi of Italy received yellow cards. Shaw received two yellow cards and was suspended from the game, resulting in England ending the game with 10 players on the field. In the 81st minute, the England coach made one last substitution, removing Foden and putting in K. Trippier, but it was too little and too late. With only a few minutes left to play, the Italian coach made one last substitution, replacing M. Scamacca by M. Verratti, and the Italian F. Acerbi received a yellow card in the last minutes of the game. Although Italy fought back bravely, the match eventually ended in a 1-2 victory for England. Despite the defeat, Italy's coach and players can hold their heads high. It was a hard fought and well staged game, and both teams showed their strengths and weaknesses. Fans of both teams can look forward to more exciting matches in the future.
In the next round, the rivals are waiting for the following matches: Malta - Italy, England - Ukraine
