Famous journalist Mykola Nesenyuk commented on the defeat of the Ukrainian national team by England (0:2) in yesterday's Euro 2024 qualifying match.
"Rotan is better than Shevchenko, and Mudryk was cheap. This is my conclusion following Ukraine's surprisingly successful game against England.
Our coach Ruslan Rotan is twice as good as coach Andriy Shevchenko, under whose leadership the Ukrainians lost to the British 0-4 the year before last, showing modern football. With Rotan at the helm, our team lost only 0:2, showing an even more modern game. The brilliant idea of our coach was that the English would keep the cosmic (in terms of price) Mykhailo Mudryk with the whole team, and they would not have time to score too many goals against us. And it worked! Now they will pay at least two hundred million for Mudryk!
As a result, the Ukrainians moved ahead of the powerful Maltese team in the group standings on goal difference. In order to keep this honorable position, we just need not to lose to Malta in June. That will also be a success - the team led by Shevchenko lost to Malta in 2017.
Rotan's superiority over Shevchenko is also emphasized by the fact that the current coach, unlike his glorious predecessor, works three jobs at once without having either a million-dollar contract or a bunch of foreign assistants.
Anyone who disagrees with all this and believes that the Ukrainian national team should take the field to win, and that a hundred million dollar striker should hit the goal at least once a game, knows nothing about modern football. I am sure that this will be confirmed by the respected UAF vice presidents Oleh Blokhin, Oleksiy Mykhailychenko and Oleh Protasov," Nesenyuk wrote on his Facebook page.
