Overview of the match Man United - Brentford:

Manchester United hosted Brentford at Old Trafford in a Premier League match in which United dominated possession but could not get on the ball. The first half ended 1-0 after a Marcus Rashford goal in the 27th minute. The game started relatively slowly, with both teams having few real chances in the first 20 minutes. However, in the 24th minute, United's Luke Shaw received a yellow card for a tactical foul. Just three minutes later, Rashford received a pass from Fred, beat two Brentford defenders and shot past goalkeeper David Raya, giving United the lead. In the 37th minute, Shaw was replaced by Tyrell Malacia. The Red Devils continued to create chances but were unable to convert them. Just before the break, United's Scott McTominay received a yellow card after he fouled Brian Mbewmo of Brentford. The second half began with Brentford attacking, but they were unable to break through United's defense. In the 50th minute, Brentford player Christian Norgaard received a yellow card for a late challenge on Rashford.

United's Bruno Fernandes also received a yellow card in the 59th minute for a rash attack. Brentford made three substitutions in the 62nd minute, letting Matthias Jensen, Josh Dasilva and Karel Schade replace Mikkel Damsgaard, Mbeumo and Brian Mbeumo. This seemed to give Brentford some freshness, but they were still unable to break through United's defense. In the 71st minute, United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made two substitutions, releasing Marcel Sabitzer and Jaydon Sancho instead of Fred and Anthony Marcial. Brentford responded with two substitutions in the 75th minute, releasing Joan Wyss and Mads Rasmussen in place of Norgaard and Mads Rohrslev. Despite several late chances for both teams, the game ended 1-0 in favor of United. In the 86th minute, United made one last substitution, releasing Anthony in place of Victor Lindelof. Overall, it was a good performance by United, who controlled most of the game and limited Brentford's chances. Although they would have liked to have scored more goals, three points is all that matters in the end. Brentford will be disappointed with the result, as they were unable to create enough chances to get back into the game.

In the next round, Man United vs. Everton and Brentford vs. Newcastle.
