In the standings, the opponents were at diametrically opposite ends before the match: Kyiv was in second place with 46 points, and the Transcarpathians were in last place, 16th with 5 points, although they played one less game. It should be noted that the first round match ended with a 2-0 victory for Kyiv.
As the hosts, Dynamo immediately seized the initiative and moved the game to the other team's goal. After the shootout, Kyiv took a corner kick, but Vasilets failed to close the far post. And during another corner kick, Dynamo won the header again, but broke the rules in the attack. The guests had the ball mostly in their own half of the field, and when they managed to move to someone else's, they could only threaten Ihnatenko's possession with long shots.
Our team was closer to scoring, but Horbach was offside and Kremchanin's shot was blocked. Soon afterward, Dmytro took a free kick, which was intended 22 meters from the goal, but hit the wall. Near the opposite goal, Ihnatenko once reacted to an opponent's mid-range shot, and Minaj also failed to clear a corner. In general, during the first half of the match, neither team created too many dangerous or potentially scoring chances at each other's goal. Thanks to the efforts of the Transcarpathians, the pace of the game was not very high, and the number of shots on goal was low.
Standard positions did not bring our team the expected result either - the guests managed to fight back every time. But in the last minute of the half, Horbach's legs were tied up by a Minaya defender in his own penalty area, and the referee awarded a penalty kick. Ihor himself confidently converted it, so the teams went into the break with a minimal advantage for the hosts.
After the break, Dynamo looked more active again. The Zakarpattia team, as before, tried to create a threat near Kyiv's possession after standard positions, but they failed. Kyiv looked sharper, in particular, Slesar had a good opportunity to score, but Artem missed the far corner of the goal. But our guys managed their next moment better: The Kremlin citizen ran down the left flank at speed and fired a pass to Horbach on the goal line, from where Igor hit the goal with a touch, doubling his team's advantage.
Immediately afterward, Vasylets headed a free kick from the free kick area, but it was slightly off target. Soon after, Slesar beat the defender and struck a shot from outside the penalty area - it went over. And in an episode when Horbach took a shot, the goalkeeper saved his team. In another moment, Gusev won a header after a corner kick, but his header was weak, and Savchenko had no trouble taking the ball away.
As you can see, the home team's advantage was undeniable. Only once did Minaj come close to reducing the deficit, but the ball was caught by the crossbar!
Kremchanin and Horbach could have scored before the final whistle, but the spectators did not see any more goals, so in the end, Dynamo won 2-0.
