"Dynamo U-19" coach Ihor Kostyuk commented on the draw of his wards in the match of the 21st round of the championship of Ukraine among youth teams, in which the "white and blue" drew with Lviv "Rukh" (0:0).
Ihor Kostyuk (photo: fcdynamo.com)— Igor Volodymyrovych, today the leaders of the tournament table met. Tell me, please, should the boys have been more prepared for this match, or, on the contrary, calmed down?
— We know that the matches of the leaders take place in an intense struggle. Today we all saw the tension on the field, nobody wanted to give in. At the same time, the match we were waiting for turned out to be the match.
— Given the draw, does the fight for the championship continue? Because in case of failure today, one could say that there are few chances.
— The struggle always continues. In every match we play to win, we always want to win and prepare players for their further journey in big football.
— Considering that you made substitutions close to the end of the match, can we say that you were satisfied with the guys' actions?
— You saw the second half, we pressed the opponent team high and had the advantage. We had opportunities to score 3-4 goals, but the execution failed. Opponents managed to block, knock out balls in tackles, but in the second half we had complete dominance. I repeat, the problem is the implementation: if we had scored a goal, the game would have been easier for us.
— From the side, it seemed that there was a tough match, a lot of contact, a lot of emotions, doctors were on the field. Is this typical for games like this?
— As I already said, yes. It's tension, the leaders of the championship are playing, nobody wants to concede. In such face-to-face games, teams compete: who is better, who is stronger, who is more experienced.
— It seems that Igor Horbach received a red card already after the final whistle. He will miss the match with Shakhtar...
— He received the fourth yellow card of the season during the match, he would have missed the game with Shakhtar anyway. But the emotions he showed after the match did not decorate him. After the fight, fists are not waved. There will be a conversation, we will apply sanctions to Igor because he is letting the team down.
— What are your expectations for the next game in which the team will play Shakhtar?
- We will tune in. We know that "Shakhtar" is also a principled opponent who is walking alongside us. We will tune in and strive for victory.
— At the end of the game, you replaced Bol's center back with an attacking player. Did it give the expected aggravation in the attack?
— Bol asked to be substituted because he had a problem with his lower back. I'm not very happy with the way Slesar came into the game, we changed to a two-striker game, but he didn't give the expected speed on the wing. And, in general, did not aggravate the attacks.
