As previously reported, last Saturday, on the eve of Easter, as a result of the Russian shelling of Kherson, sports doctor Volodymyr Dudka lost his family - his wife and daughter. Shrapnel from a shell killed 48-year-old Iryna and 27-year-old Marina. Two days later, Volodymyr found the strength to talk about the biggest tragedy in his life.
- Mr. Volodymyr, how did you learn about the tragedy?
- My wife and daughter worked in a private medical salon. My daughter was a nail technician, my wife was an administrator. They went to work together. I was proud of them. Maryna received a medical degree. At first, she worked as a therapist at a local children's sports school. Then she completed courses and became a cosmetologist. Before the war started, she started working in a private clinic. She was a leading specialist in her field. On June 26, she would have turned 28 years old.
I was returning from work with my wife and went to the store. I called Ira at 2:06 pm. My wife answered that they had already left the store and were going home. In 5 minutes the shelling started. The mines were flying with a characteristic whistle, the glass was rattling. I started dialing Ira. In response, there were beeps. My wife always answers me on the third ring. Even if she was talking to someone at the time. That was our agreement. And then she doesn't pick up the phone.
I started dialing my daughter, but her phone is out of range. I know that this does not happen - Marina is always on power bank. I started to go crazy. I'll get dressed right away. I dialed them one by one 8 or 9 times.
Then a woman answered the phone. She said: "I'm sorry, but your girls are gone."
- Did this happen near your house?
- Yes, 150 meters away. We have two schools near our house - the 24th and the 41st. There is a passage between them. There is a kindergarten nearby. They were at the crossroads of the schools and the kindergarten. Where were the Russians aiming at? At the school or the kindergarten? The shell hit a tree, and the shrapnel hit Ira and Marina directly. Shrapnel hit my daughter in the head and femoral artery. My wife - right in the heart. There was a lot of blood. It happened at 14:15.
It is hard to come to terms with this. And it is harder to live. After the funeral of my daughter and wife, I decided to join the Armed Forces. I hate these Russian animals! May they all burn! I want to get into the artillery, I will work as a medic.
