For the third time in a row UEFA can move the final match of the Champions League from Istanbul to another city. This is reported by The Independent.

According to the source, possible protests following the presidential elections in Turkey could prevent the Champions League final to be held in Istanbul on June 10. UEFA is considering the option of urgently moving the match to another place because of concerns about possible rallies and political clashes after the election.

It is noted that in the case of mass protests, the Turkish law enforcement authorities will not be able to ensure the safety of Champions League finalists.

Recall that in the past few years, UEFA has repeatedly postponed the final match of the most prestigious club tournament in the world. In 2020, Istanbul was to host the final, but due to the coronavirus pandemic and strict border crossing rules, the decisive match was played in Lisbon.

A year later, Istanbul was again scheduled to host the Champions League final, but it was prevented by anti-covigilance rules: Britain had banned its citizens from visiting Turkey for security reasons. As a result, the final was held in Porto.
