Famous Ukrainian journalist and commentator Ihor Tsyhanyk expressed his opinion on the situation with Dynamo's head coach on the air of the Tsyhanyk Live program.
"This is an interesting story. It lies in the fact that in the near future it will be known how events will develop at Dynamo Kyiv. At the moment, the decision is as follows: Lucescu will have an operation, undergo rehabilitation, and for the summer he will return to work as Dynamo's head coach. This is the main line that Dynamo professes and is supported by the management headed by President Igor Surkis.
Shovkovsky is currently acting until the end of the championship. Lucescu will be constantly in touch and will help Shovkovsky in this work. Therefore, there is no question that Shovkovskyi will remain the head coach.
Another option. Lucescu is already at a respectable age: surgery, rehabilitation - whether he will be able or willing to continue coaching. It will be up to Lucescu to decide. And here the question arises - will Shovkovsky remain the head coach in this case? I can tell you for sure that if Shovkovskyi has a successful part of the season now, we understand that he will succeed Mircea Lucescu as Dynamo's head coach. It all depends on Shovkovskyi and how he plays the remaining matches of the championship. If he manages to inspire faith in the team, get as many points as possible, and if the team can intervene in the fight for the prize places, he is certainly the main candidate.
If everything goes well, Shovkovsky will become Lucescu's successor at Dynamo. If, God forbid, something goes wrong, then we will have to search for a coach. But this is only the third option," Tsyganik said.
