Vladimir Muntian - Honoured Master of Sport, seven-time champion of the USSR, four-time silver medallist, winner of the USSR Cup (1966, 1974). He played 302 matches in the USSR championships, scoring 57 goals. 49 games played for the USSR national team. Participant of the World Cup in 1970. Winner of the Cup Winners' Cup and the UEFA Super Cup in 1975. Vice-champion of Europe in 1970. Now Volodymyr Fyodorovych is the head of the public organization Veterans of FC Dynamo Kyiv. He is an honoured coach of Ukraine.
After the match between the teams of pupils of Kyiv and Moscow which was held on the pitch of the current NSC Olimpiyskiy, one of the coaches of FC Dynamo Victor Terentiev approached the captain of the home team Volodya Muntyan, a player of the school No 1 and asked him if he would like to try himself in the Kyiv club. He offered to come to the Dynamo stadium the next day by eleven o'clock and take a place in the bus that was taking the reserve players to the training ground in Nivki. The ninth-grader did not go to school. He had no sports bag. He stuffed the uniform in some folder without a lock and came to the stadium on the following day at 10 o'clock. He stood aside and watched the players and coaches getting on the bus. Around 11 o'clock the bus left and the boy did not have the courage to approach the bus. Upset, he went home, deciding that he was done with Dynamo.
Ten days later, on Kreschatik Volodya met his friend Anatoliy Byshovets who had already trained with Dynamo. Anatoliy asked Volodya why he did not come to training, as coaches Koman and Terentyev were asking him about it.
In May 2023 it will be 60 years since Volodymyr Muntian came to FC Dynamo where his talent has unfolded. Small height (169 cm), very coordinated and highly technical, with a strong two-footed strike and perfectly placed pass, he won the sympathy of Kyiv fans who called him "Munya" and also a little Brazilian.
After his football career Muntean became a coach. He worked at FC Dynamo, Tavriya, Obolon, Kryvbas, Vorskla, headed the youth team of Ukraine. Volodymyr Fedorovych managed to work outside Ukraine, in distant Africa. He led the national team of Guinea and Madagascar, where he coached the club KOSFAP became the champion of the country, for which he was awarded with a medal. This is understandable, a specialist of such class was not seen there.
When he was coaching the Guinean national team an unknown disease crept up on him. Vladimir Fedorovich got ill. For several months he was fully immobile. He barely survived. Local doctors and shamans set him on his feet. At the end of his contract Muntian returned to his native Kyiv, which he and his family loved dearly.
Onishchenko - the Honoured master of sports, three-times champion of the USSR, two-times winner of the USSR Cup, winner of the Cup Winners Cup - 1975, UEFA Super Cup - 1975, Vice-champion of Europe - 1972, bronze medalist of Olympic Games -1972 and1976. He played 44 matches for the USSR national team, scoring 11 goals.
The team of the former Soviet Union, into which Vladimir Onishchenko was invited, completing its tour of Latin America, flew to Rio de Janeiro, from where a day had to go to New York, and then to Moscow.
At the airport, representatives of FIFA and the Brazilian Football Federation approached the team management and invited Evgeniy Lovchev, Sergey Olshansky and Vladimir Onishchenko to attend the farewell match of the world football legend Garrincha. December 18, 1973, the famous Maracana Sports Arena welcomed 131555 spectators, who came to see off Garrincha the "lame angel".
The Brazilian team, three-time world champions, faced a FIFA international team made up of the best players of the time. The hosts, with Pele, Carlos Alberto, Rivelinho, Jairzinho and Gerson all playing in the squad, won -2-1. won -2:1. The decisive goal was scored by the inimitable Pele. His stellar without a doubt - the year of Dynamo Kyiv victory in the Cup Winners' Cup final - 75 in Basel, where Onishchenko scored two goals to Ferencvarosh. Vladimir Onishchenko is also remembered for two matches against Bayern for European Super Cup - 75.
