Former Dynamo Kyiv defender Goran Popov has commented on the appointment of Oleksandr Shovkovs'kyi as the acting head coach of the Bilo-Syni.
Goran Popov- When I was at Dynamo, Shevchenko was there, Milevskiy, Aliyev, Yarmolenko, but Shovkovs'kyi is the captain who has spent all his life in Dynamo (Kyiv). Back then, he told everyone what to do on the pitch. Garmash, Khacheridi, young players did not really hear what the coach was saying, but for everyone Shovkovs'kyi was the main man on the pitch. He saw the whole team in front of him. It was clear he had the qualities to be a good coach, as well as a man who can create a good atmosphere in the team to make the team feel like one family.
But I can't say Lucescu must go. The man works, does what he knows how to do. And he has not changed at all over the years. The fans say go ahead and leave. But when there are no results, the fans should on the contrary support the team. Lucescu's contract is up for another year. I think his age does not matter, he can keep working. He can do a lot for the team if the situation will allow it. But if Shovkovs'kyi produces a result, then, yes, we can think about it. I believe in Shovkovs'kyi, I am sure he will not let any of the players mess with Dynamo.
