In Kyiv, the Ukrainian Heroes Square (formerly Leo Tolstoy Square) is to be renovated to include a football and a monument honouring Ukrainian heroes.
The corresponding project by Kyiv City Council member Olesia Pynzenyk was registered with the Kyiv City Council. According to Pynzenyk, the construction with a football, which was installed in 2012 on the eve of the football championship, needs to be dismantled. "It is outdated and does not meet the current realities and demands of society," the deputy emphasises.
"Instead, a monument should be made that would be in harmony with the new name of the square. It is also planned to arrange the flowerbed that frames the structure. Olesya Pynzenyk emphasises that no money will be raised from the local budget for this project.
