VfB Stuttgart tried to fight back, but their efforts were not enough, and in the 71st minute they made one last substitution: W. Anton came on instead of H. J. Perea. Hertha Berlin responded in the 75th minute with M. Dardai instead of A. Rogel and then quickly made two more substitutions, releasing S. Serdar instead of M. O. Kempf and K. Ezhuke instead of M. Richter. The match ended 2-1 in favour of Hertha Berlin, leaving VfB Stuttgart with nothing. The only bright spot for Stuttgart was a S. Girassi, but it was not enough to save a point. Overall, the match was tense and exciting, and it was clear that both teams were trying to give their best.
