Then, Nottingham Forest made some important substitutions: S. Aurier came on in place of J. Worrall in the 64th minute, R. Yates came on in place of K. Kouyate in the 70th minute and S. Surridge replaced T. Avoniyi in the 81st minute. Nottingham Forest increased their lead in the 73rd minute when Danilo scored from long range. However, Southampton did not give up and made four substitutions in an attempt to turn the game around. K. Adams, K. Alcaraz and S. Armstrong left the game and were replaced by A. Armstrong, P. Onuachu and S. Edozi. Southampton were rewarded for their fighting spirit with a penalty in the 90th minute, which was converted by J. Ward-Prowse, making the score 4-3. Nottingham Forest thought they had scored a fifth goal in the final seconds of the match when Felipe was in the net, but the goal was cancelled out due to offside. Overall, it was an incredible match that showed the fighting spirit of both teams. Nottingham Forest's early superiority and clinical finishing proved decisive in the end, but Southampton's attitude to never give up will serve them well for the rest of the season.
