There is a powerful stream of negativity, every round there are incomprehensible refereeing decisions that not only reduce the already low interest in our football, but they completely kill this interest. The referees and their scandalous cards, penalties, and goal cancellations have confidently come to the forefront of expert commentary. We already know the names of referees better than the names of players on opposing teams. And if we talk about arbitration so much, we should admit that there is a clear problem here.
What should be done? One of the solutions we see is the systematic use of modern VAR technology at all UPL matches. Of course, VAR is not a panacea, but today it is a mandatory necessity that is recognised and used in most football championships around the world. All clubs should be on an equal footing, and it is necessary for VAR to work at every match.
That is why FC Shakhtar has decided to purchase two VAR machines, which the club will hand over to the UAF to serve the UPL matches next season. Both machines will be purchased from the 60 million hryvnias we promised to allocate to support Ukrainian football.
I hope that the availability of a sufficient number of VAR machines will significantly reduce the number of refereeing scandals and ensure the use of video technology at every match. Let's talk about football again, not about football referees and their mistakes," Palkin said.
