Director of Obolon Aleksandr Riznichenko criticized the Ukrainian football authorities for cancelling the Ukrainian U-21 championship.
"What development of football in Ukraine can we talk about if we eliminated the U-21 teams? This is the golden age of football. Now it turns out that the guys do not fit the U-19 format, and some do not fit the first team. There is nowhere else for them to play.
I have always said that first league clubs should have U-19. Let it not be U-19 but U-18. We are investing in the development of youth football, but again, no one needs the graduates. They go elsewhere to play - to the oblast and so on. Instead of creating such youth teams. Let them play at the regional level.
If there was a development for football, these children would have a future. But in the meantime we invest money into the school structure and only a few kids end up getting fixed up somewhere," Riznichenko said.
