13 May 1927 is considered the date of the foundation of the Dynamo football club (Kyiv). This is the day the charter of the Kyiv proletarian sports society (PSS) "Dynamo" was registered by the Interdepartmental Commission for Public Organisations and Unions of the Kyiv district.
The registration of Kyiv PSO "Dynamo" on 13 May, 1927, under which the football team was later founded, is confirmed by documents kept in the Central State Archive of the higher authorities and administration. The year 1927 is also reflected in official documents and handbooks of FIFA and UEFA.
However, the 13th of May is linked with some mournful notes in the history of Kyiv Dynamo. It was fate that on this day in 2002, the heart of the legendary Bilo-Syni coach Valerii Lobanovskii stopped beating, and since then May 13 is his memory day.
