The Catalan side FC Barcelona secured the league title with a 4-2 away win over Espanyol in the 34th round of the Spanish league last night, four rounds before the end of the season.
The Catalans are now leading the La Liga standings, 14 points ahead of runners-up Real Madrid. As a result, Barcelona are now unbeaten on the road.
The current title is the 27th in Barcelona's history. The record holder remains Real Madrid, who have won the title 35 times. Atletico Madrid, who have triumphed 11 times, are in the bottom three of the most decorated Spanish clubs.
Other Spanish champions are Athletic Bilbao (8 times), Valencia (6), Real Sociedad (2), Deportivo, Sevilla and Betis (all once).
