Ferrexpo shareholder and Vorskla owner Kostyantyn Zhevago has nothing to do with the situation with the alleged bribery of the Chief Justice or judges of the Supreme Court of Ukraine. This was stated in a statement provided by the businessman's press service to Forbes.

Konstantin Zhevago

Key facts:

  • The information that the unlawful benefit could have been received from people acting in the businessman's interests is completely false, the statement said. Konstantin Zhevago himself asks the media "not to disseminate unconfirmed information".
  • Zhevago's press service also claims that there is an "unreasonable connection and obvious falsification" of the parallels in this case with the decision of the Grand Chamber of the Supreme Court of 19 April 2023 to recognise the legality of Ferrexpo's acquisition of a stake in Poltava Mining and Processing Plant (PGOK) in 2002.
  • According to Zhevago, the Grand Chamber of the Supreme Court made its April ruling not in his interests, but "in the interests of a large, public company with respected shareholders that is traded on the main floor of the London Stock Exchange".
  • "The Supreme Court has delivered a legally sound decision. The attempt by dubious offshore companies linked to individuals on the US and European sanctions lists, including Russian citizens, to take over a major industrial asset has been stopped. The other shareholders and I have made sure that it is in the highest court of Ukraine that we can still protect our legal rights," said Ferrexpo's co-owner.
  • Zhevago assured that he and the lawyers of the respective companies are ready to provide all the necessary explanations to the investigation and the courts if necessary. "I would like to emphasise that we are interested in a transparent investigation of this case to remove all suspicions and confirm our reputation in Ukraine and among our foreign partners," the businessman said.
