England's Brighton will make a second attempt to acquire Shakhtar Donetsk defender Mykola Matviyenko. According to The Athletic, the 27-year-old has been the club's target for the summer transfer window.
Last winter Brighton already attempted to buy Matvienko, but Shakhtar claimed EUR 30m for his defender, after which the English club withdrew from negotiations.
It should be added that Brighton are now coached by former Shakhtar head coach Roberto De Dzerby. The team itself is two rounds from the end of the current season in the APL standings (the position that gives the right to play in the Europa League next season), but has not yet guaranteed itself a place in the 'Eurocup zone' (for that Brighton have one point left).
