"Newcastle's 0-0 draw with Leicester in yesterday's penultimate match of the 37th round of the English championship secured their final place, not lower than fourth, and with it a ticket to the group stage of next season's Champions League.
The Magpies are currently in third place, while fifth-placed Liverpool are four points clear of Newcastle.
At the end of the season, England's top four teams qualify for the Champions League group stage, fifth and sixth place finishers qualify for the Europa League group stage, while the club that finishes seventh will represent that country in the Conference League - from the play-off round.
It should be noted that Newcastle reached the Champions League last season for the first time since the 2002/03 season. A year later, the Magpies also competed in the main European competition but failed to qualify.
