Former head coach of Kyiv Dynamo and the Ukraine national team Jozsef Sabo has commented on the appointment of Serhiy Rebrov as the head coach of the Ukrainian national team.
"For months there have been speculations in the press as to whom the UAF will appoint to this very difficult position in our difficult time. You must agree that now it is necessary to make a team of players worthy of playing in the first team of the country in a short time and create a fighting team.
Not all of our foreign players have enough playing time. Tsygankov and Mykolenko, perhaps, are an exception, so mostly players of Ukrainian clubs will represent the national team. The way Serhiy Rebrov's coaching staff manages the selection of players will determine the team's game drawing in the upcoming games.
We are well aware that Serhiy has enough coaching experience in the club teams, and quite successful results, but working in the national team is something else. Especially in wartime there are nuances, and quite serious ones. But no matter what, I support the decision to appoint Rebrov as the head coach of the Ukraine national football team, I believe in his capacity, experience, knowledge of coaching, his ability to create a worthy team. I wish Sergei to overcome all the difficulties in building the team and give a successful result in the upcoming matches," said Sabo.
