Turkey's Fenerbahce do not abandon their attempts to agree a partnership with Dinamo Kyiv head coach Mircea Lucescu.
Yesterday, the Istanbul club officially announced that they have parted ways with their now former coach Jorge Jesus. The Portuguese specialist's contract with Fenerbahce expired and the sides decided not to continue their partnership.
"The contract of Jorge Jesus, who was the coach of our team for the 2022/23 football season, has expired and we have parted ways with him. We thank Mr Jorge Jesus for all his efforts so far and wish him well for the rest of his career," Fenerbahce said in a press release.
As for talks with Lucescu, who has so far rejected all offers from Fenerbahce, the club have now decided to resort to a little trickery. According to ProSport, Istanbul are luring the 77-year-old Dynamo mentor with a top-tier transfer, promising to sign Italian star striker Edin Dzeko during the summer transfer window.
It is also reported that Fenerbahce are aiming to close the issue of a new head coach by the end of this week. If Lucescu cannot be agreed, the Istanbul club will have to choose between Vincenzo Montella, Abdullah Avcı and Sergen Jalcın.
