Former Ukraine striker Ivan Getsko has shared his prediction for the Euro 2024 qualifying match between Northern Macedonia and Ukraine.
"The Balkans are quite a difficult opponent for our guys, but I believe that we will win with a two-goal advantage. Serhiy Rebrov's charges must realise that another loss of points will make the road to the final part of the continental championship much more difficult.
Why am I optimistic about the final result? The Ukrainians are of a higher class than the hosts, they showed their great potential in the last sparring with the big-name Germans in Bremen. The visitors were delighted with their quick transition from defence to attack, as well as their skilful offensive moves. Although, unpleasant impressions were left behind by our defenders' mistakes at the end of the game, which allowed Bundestim to escape from defeat. It's a pity, because we had every chance to spoil the hosts' mood in the 1000th anniversary match. You can't relax like that today.
But it is more worrying that the Ukraine national team are without their goalscorers. In particular, in games for the home team Artem Dovbik for some reason is mainly focused on supporting his team-mates, forgetting that his mission is to hit the target. Besides, it seems that he often acts half-turned, dropping out of the game. Moving around the pitch jogging, without taking any initiative near the opposition's goal, Artem will find it difficult to find a job at some famous foreign club," said Getsko.
