In the long-awaited European Championship qualifying match Hungary faced Lithuania at the Puskasz Arena. The home team, Hungary came into the game as favourites and did not disappoint their fans. Although Lithuania fought hard in the game, Hungary won the game with a final score of 2-0. The game started off excitingly, with both teams showing off their skills and fighting for every inch of space on the pitch. However, it was Hungary who got the upper hand, scoring a goal in the 32nd minute.
The author of the goal was B. Varga. The Lithuanian team did not let up, but a flurry of yellow cards slowed down their pace in the second half. Lithuanian K. Uzelah got a yellow card in the 39th minute. A few minutes into the second half, the team made two substitutions, replacing K. Uzelas with M. Vorobjevas and G. Sirgedas with P. Sirvis. More yellow cards were given - Lithuanian A. Tutyskinas got one in the 50th minute, and Hungary's V. Orban in the 54th minute. E. Jankauskas (Lithuania) was also shown the yellow card in the 57th minute. Both teams made substitutions in the 60th minute. Hungary replaced B. Varga with M. Adam and K. Styles with L. Kleinheisler. Lithuania replaced A. Tutyskinas with M. Benet. Lithuania continued to make substitutions as the game progressed: D. Sesplaukis came on in place of A. Kucis in the 78th minute and D. Romanowski replaced E. Jankauskas in the 86th minute. However, in the 83rd minute Hungary sealed the win with another goal, this time from R. Sallai. Lithuania tried to fight back, but it was too little and too late. As the game drew to a close, Hungary made their last substitutions. D. Gazdag replaced A. Lang and M. Kerkez replaced J. Ferenczi. Hungary's celebrations were tempered by a yellow card to D. Soboslai in the 89th minute. Overall, it was an exciting and tense match. Both teams showed their potential, but the victory went to Hungary. The result puts Hungary in a strong position as they look to qualify for the European Championships. Lithuania, meanwhile, need to regroup and focus on their next challenge.
