The head coach of the youth national team of Ukraine Ruslan Rotan spoke about preparations for the second match at Euro 2023 (U-21) - against Romania, which will take place this Saturday, 24 June.
"We need to recover as quickly as possible before the match, because in two days and on the third day there are games. It is better to train in the morning so that the guys have time to recover. Plus, massages, the pool, all of this takes time. So, in my opinion, it's the right thing to do to help the guys recover faster.
We will definitely analyse our game and have already started preparing for the Romanian national team. We need to look at this match.
Firstly, we shouldn't pay attention to the match and the result in the game against Spain (0:3 - ed.). After all, the Spanish national team is the Spanish national team. After the defeat, Romania will be a different team that will draw conclusions. They have nowhere to go but to fight for the result against us. Therefore, we must be super-motivated, we must understand that we are playing against the team that hosts this World Cup, and we will also play against the stands that support the hosts.
We expect a tough match both physically and mentally. I believe that we need to recover the guys and prepare very well, make a video review and analysis of Romania's matches. We will definitely talk to the guys about this. Anyway, from the very beginning, when we were still gathering, we pay attention to our game. Every time we want to progress, every time we want to improve, so the emphasis will still be on our game
Vladyslav Vanat and Mykhailo Mudryk came from the national team with injuries, so our doctors and physiotherapists are working on them. They have their own programme, they work out in the gym. There is a swimming pool, plus recovery procedures. The doctors and physiotherapists are doing everything possible to get the boys back to the next match.
We can't make any predictions. Each player has a different body. This will all be seen at the first training sessions, during the tests. It will all show whether the guys will be able to take part in the match or not," Rotan said.
