The United States of America will host an expanded version of the FIFA Club World Cup, according to a statement on the official FIFA website.
The FIFA Council unanimously appointed the United States as the host of the new 32-team FIFA Club World Cup to be held in 2025 at a meeting held via video conference from FIFA Headquarters.
The 2025 tournament will feature 12 European teams, including the winners of the Champions League from 2021 to 2024, i.e. Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester City. Eight more European clubs will be added according to the club rankings.
As a reminder, the tournament is currently held annually and traditionally involves seven clubs from six football confederations.
