The famous manager and expert Vyacheslav Zakhovaylo commented on Andrii Yarmolenko's return to Kyiv Dynamo and gave his assessment of the overseas stage of his career. Let us remind you that the player has signed a two-year contract with the new-old club.
- Yarmolenko's return to Dynamo today is the right step. It is a living example of a generally successful career of a player who has been in the Dynamo structure since his early years for the young players who are now nurtured at the club. Andriy fulfilled his dream, played in the top clubs. Now he is coming back to finish the game. He will definitely help the team, especially in the current situation. Both in terms of organization, and as a good role model for the young guys, as a good motivator.
- Very big promises were handed out to Yarmolenko before the start of his career abroad, in particular, before his switch to Borussia, but it turned out much more modest, also at West Ham. Injuries or something else got in the way?
- A footballer's career is unpredictable. And adapting to a new team, to a new system of relationships with partners - it is always an open question, there are always great risks. We can say that there were episodes where the game just did not go well, there were injuries, somewhere, perhaps, there were misunderstandings in a particular game system. But in general, Andriy played fairly in those clubs, he did not slack anywhere. Somewhere he lost competition, somewhere injuries interfered, but that's football. Personally, I think if Yarmolenko had moved to a foreign championship two years earlier, he could reveal himself more clearly there.
- The last phase of his career abroad in Al Ain ended up being Andriy's brightest one in terms of results. Has he found his team, was he lucky with the fact that the coach was Serhiy Rebrov or the experience had its say?
- All of the above has played its role. Serhiy Rebrov knew this player very well, and on the field he tried to make the most of his best qualities, those or other well-tuned elements. And let's not forget that the level of opposition of Saudi Arabian teams is lower than that of the European ones, Andriy managed to make the most of the experience gained in the previous stages.
- Many are already comparing this return to the way Andriy Shevchenko and the aforementioned Serhiy Rebrov came back to Dynamo. Are such comparisons relevant at all?
- It can be stated that a good tradition of coming back to Dynamo and playing together with those who wrote a bright page in the history of the club is shaping up. I have no doubt that Yarmolenko will fulfill his role, his work in the club with maximum quality, and the young guys will have an authoritative leader in front of them.
- There have already been rumours on the net that Yarmolenko's salary will be almost equal to that which Mircea Lucescu gets. Could it create a hostile atmosphere in the dressing room?
- They love to speculate on that, because no one has seen Yarmolenko's contract terms, it's more of a journalistic show. But even if it's true and Yarmolenko's salary is higher than that of everyone else, including Lucescu, I think he deserves it.
