Chernihiv-based Desna, which is booked a place in the Ukrainian Premier League, is not planning to resume its performances in the elite division but will start its new path in Ukrainian football in the second league. This was stated by club president Volodymyr Levin.
"We have a clear mechanism for the club to resume, which will allow us to start next season. This includes setting up a new club, playing the club in the second league and, if we reach the level of UPL play, moving the club to that division.
However, it is important to note that the issue is not about overcoming the transfer ban, but the possibility of creating a quality team. We need to gather a set of players who can match the level of play in the UPL. If we can do that, then our club will be successful, and we will be proud of its achievements", - "Suspilne" quotes Levin.
It should be recalled that Desna, due to the consequences of military aggression by the Russian Federation, was unable to take part in the Ukrainian championship for the season 2022/23, but this club was retained a place in the UPL.
