Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta is close to joining Atletico Madrid.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the 33-year-old will join the Matriarchs as a free agent and sign a two-year deal. Last summer, the Spaniard signed a new two-year contract with Chelsea, but the club's management gave him the green light to leave as a free agent in a show of respect for his career at Stamford Bridge.
Aspilicueta has been playing for Chelsea since the summer of 2012. With the Londoners, Cesar became a two-time English champion and won the Champions League and Europa League.
