French youth captain Maxence Kackeré has commented on his team's defeat to Ukraine in yesterday's Euro 2023 (U-21) quarter-final (1:3).
"A huge disappointment. We did not do what it took to win this match. We had the game in our hands when we were 1-0 up but we made some small mistakes which allowed Ukraine to take the lead. We were obliged to score in the second half, but we failed to do so. Everyone is very disappointed.
We had better ball possession in the second half, but we didn't create many chances. And in the end, that had an impact on the result.
It's a real shame, because we had other goals in this big tournament. Now we have to live through what happened. We all have to take responsibility for this result," UEFA quoted Kacker as saying.
