It's official. Patrick van Leeuwen is Shakhtar's new head coach

Patrick van Leeuwen is Shakhtar's new head coach.

The agreement with the Dutch specialist runs until 30 June 2025. Van Leeuwen became the 36th head coach in the history of the Donetsk club.

Previously, van Leeuwen worked as the coordinator of the Feyenoord Academy (2000-2006), coordinator and director of the Shakhtar Academy (2006-2013), sporting director of Kairat (Kazakhstan; 2013-2015), director of the Maccabi Academy (Tel Aviv, Israel; 2016-2020), head coach of Maccabi (Tel Aviv, Israel; 2020-2021), head coach of Zorya (Luhansk; 2022-2023). As a coach, he played 30 matches in the Ukrainian championship: 20 wins, 4 draws, 6 defeats (goal difference: 61-34).

Earlier, Shakhtar announced the dismissal of Igor Jovicevic.
