Desna's former head coach Oleksandr Riabokon, who has been in the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces since February last year, spoke about the future of the Chernihiv team.
Oleksandr Riabokon (right)- "There were plans and hopes that Desna would return to the Premier League next season. We had meetings with the club's representatives. Back in early March, we hoped that we would play in the UPL again in the new season. But then we took into account the current situation. Unfortunately, everything in Chernihiv was destroyed: the stadium, the training ground, the café, the hotel where the team lived. And during this time, nothing has changed for the better, nothing has been rebuilt. Only the bomb craters were filled in on the central field - that's all. So we decided to take a break for another year. We'll see how it goes.
I'm ready to get back to business if everything goes well, if there are appropriate offers. I had hopes of returning with Desna... 2022 passed without football, but recently I have had a growing desire to return to the football family. It is with Desna that I want to get back to business. But now I have great doubts about the future," Ryabokon said.
