Attempts by the Russian Football Union (RFU) to organise a friendly match against Brazil this September have come to nothing. This was made clear by the organisation's general secretary Maxim Mitrofanov.

"If we were only talking about an away match, it would have been much easier to agree. We are negotiating specifically about a home match. We are negotiating with several African and Asian federations for September. Earlier we were negotiating with Brazil, but at the moment - no," - quotes Mitrofanov "Sport-Express".
We will add that the RFU wants to hold two friendly matches of the Russian national team in September. One sparring partner has already been found - it is the national team of Qatar. Previously, the Russian national team has held friendly matches with even more "notable" opponents - Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzebekistan, Iran and Iraq. These are the wonderful realities of Russian football, which, as we know, was expelled from all international tournaments immediately after the Russian Federation attacked Ukraine.
