Argentine defender Diego Godin has retired from professional football.
The match of the 27th round of the Argentine championship against Urakan (0:1) was the last match of his playing career for the 37-year-old Uruguayan.
"I wanted to leave like this - healthy. It may come as a surprise, but I have been thinking about retiring from football for some time. Now I have other priorities. My family lives in Uruguay and I recently became a dad. I want to relax and enjoy other things, leaving a good impression with my game," RMC Sport quoted the player as saying.
As a reminder, Godin won the Europa League twice with Atletico Madrid.
