Former head coach of the Ukrainian national team Andriy Shevchenko has commented on the outcome of the charity match in support of Ukraine, which was held in London.
- Firstly, I want to thank all the players who joined this match. You see the number of players today - more than 40, it is very pleasant and important. It is very important to thank the volunteers who worked for a very long time on this match.
I think that everything was successful, people came. It is very important now to raise the funds that are needed to rebuild the school. This is the most important thing. It was a very important signal for the whole world, because, as far as I know, the broadcast was for about 200 countries. Nobody supports us the way the English support us. Ukraine won today.
We immediately told everyone what the funds will be raised for, why we are holding this match. A lot of world-class players who are here - they all have children, so they understand, see, know, read what is happening in Ukraine today. They support us. Everything I do - I am responsible for it. It is very important for me that this match was very successful, that there was support.
What I would like to say to all Ukrainians? Glory to Ukraine! Hold on. We will win, as always," Shevchenko said on Shakhtar's club TV channel.
