Famous Ukrainian coach Oleh Fedorchuk told theUkrainian Footballwebsiteabout themain reasons for Dynamo's 0-1 defeat to Aris.
- Were you surprised that centre-forward Vanat was not in the starting line-up?
- Everyone thought that Vanat would play at the forefront of the attack. As we found out later, it was a temperature. I understood that the guy had a health problem - they didn't even give him 15 minutes. I really liked Brazko's performance. The game immediately became a bit more intense. And the same Shepelev added to it. Benito tried his best. Sometimes it seemed that he was even overflowing with energy. But he is not yet understood. They don't quite find him. But the Nigerian has prospects as a striker.
But the defence... I'll just say: it adds to Lucescu's grey hair. And the wing players are not improving in the selection. This may still be the case in matches against the bottom half of the UPL table, but even a mediocre European opponent is already finding our weaknesses once or twice.
- Did Yarmolenko impress?
- Yarmolenko had his chance to score (89 minutes). Yes, he helps. The team is calmer with him. He brings his experience and calmness to Dynamo.
- Bushchan touched the ball and almost saved a penalty. Can you have any complaints about the goalkeeper?
- Bushchan will make his own. A penalty kick is a duel between two. It's more about reflexes and the subconscious. He worked so well on the reaction. What Bushchan did in the last minutes speaks volumes. He has now gained form.
- Was the penalty fair?
- There are no questions, absolutely. Well, you can't wave your hands around like that in football. If you come at the kicker, you need to press your hands down. My parrot also flaps its wings like Sirota. These are childish mistakes.
- Did Aris win fairly?
- The southern teams - Greece, Spain, Portugal - are very emotional on their fields. Here you need to slow down. Or lie down for a long time and simulate. Or control the ball. At the expense of the midfield players, especially the wingers.
- How will Dynamo solve the problem of the centre of defence? Waiting for someone to grow up in the academy?
- It is difficult for a coach to do anything here. The players themselves should raise their level. A player must know how to select, how to meet a player. These are the functions of the coaches who taught them in youth football. Not the current head coach. Popov's emotionality - at first it upset me, then it made me angry, and now it's not even funny. The guy just can't control his emotions.
The most disappointing thing is that Dynamo's defenders really have good makings and anthropometry, it's what God gave them. But then it depends on them whether they will remain "blanks" or will progress, learn at least from their own mistakes, if they cannot learn from others. Anyway, in a club like Dynamo, the margin for error is limited. You can fail once or twice. But even in a difficult situation, in six months, a major player will enter the market and bring someone who will stop making the same mistakes. So let the young people think for themselves whether they want to play football at a high level or watch from the bench as someone bought plays in their place.
- It seemed to me that Dynamo started creating chances only after conceding a goal in the 69th minute.
- That's true. Dynamo had chances only at the end. They started to hold onto the ball and had chances. If they play like they did at the end in the return leg, they should turn the result in their favour.
- If Dynamo had played bolder, would the result have been different?
- It's hard to say what would have happened. Dynamo seemed to have agreed to a draw or a minimal defeat. But if they had started playing on the opposite course, who knows, they might have lost more.
- How will Dynamo be able to turn the tide in the return leg?
- In this pair, Dynamo is the favourite. The opponent won less on emotions, individual skill, and tricks. It is possible to play. And if Vanat is available, the team will look much stronger. 60-40 in favour of Dynamo, I think.
