This match was a home match for our team and took place at Dynamo's training base in Koncha Zaspa. It is worth noting that in the previous rounds, the White and Blues won two matches - against Minaj (3-0) and Obolon (7-0), while Kharkiv suffered two defeats: first, they narrowly lost to Shakhtar (2-3), and then to Oleksandriya (1-4).
As the hosts, Dynamo started the match actively and after a short time of possession, took the lead in the 6th minute. After a throw-in from Gusev on the right, his partner continued the ball's header, the ball fell to Ponomarenko, who turned around in the fight against the opposition defenders and pushed the ball into the net with his left foot from the centre of the penalty area. In response, Kharkiv earned several free kicks, but neither a free kick nor a corner kick brought them any benefit.
Dynamo continued to have the initiative, while the visitors mainly acted on the counterattack. For some time, there were no dangerous moments at the gates of both teams. The hosts had a promising shot into the penalty area from Gusev on the right, but Gerich just missed it. But Kyiv took full advantage of the next moment: after a corner kick by Matkevych, Ponomarenko's shot was deflected by the crossbar, from which the ball hit the back of Balaba's head and flew into the net - 2-0.
Soon the hosts scored again. Ponomarenko's first shot from outside the penalty area was dealt with by the goalkeeper, Matvey picked up the ball again and shot on goal again - the Metalist 1925 goalkeeper reacted this time, but this time the sphere fell to Gerich, who sent it into the net, bringing the score to a great score. By the end of the first half, Dynamo had several more dangerous attacks, with Osipenko coming closest to scoring, but the score did not change as Kyrylo's powerful shot went wide.
At the beginning of the second half, Ponomarenko almost scored for the second time - the ball was blocked by a defender after his shot into an almost empty net. But in one of the next attacks, Matvey already acted as an assistant: he left the ball to Gusev, who was picking up speed on the right flank, Oleksiy got a little closer to the goal and struck an irresistible shot past the goalkeeper - 4-0.
The advantage of Kyiv was tangible, so chances at the Kharkiv goal arose regularly. Matkevich had a good shot - just over the goal. And then our team scored again: Ponomarenko took a free kick 25 metres from the goal, the first attempt hit the wall, but with the second, Matvey sent the ball just under the crossbar. A few minutes later, Ponomarenko scored a hat-trick - he touched down a wonderful shot from Dykyi's left from around the goal line.
In addition, Kalyn hit the net from the outside, and at the opposite goal Surkis helped his team out after one of the opponent's infrequent attacks and a one-on-one with the goalkeeper - Vyacheslav made a good play on the way out and knocked the ball out from under his opponent's feet. However, the hosts had the last word: shortly before the end of the match, Lobko took full advantage of Kalyn's pass and scored from the goal line, setting the final score at 7-0.
