Montpellier's hopes of a comeback victory faded rapidly as Reims took control of the game. In the 59th minute, Montpellier made their first substitution as Clément Julien replaced Bilal Omeragic.
The substitution gave freshness and energy to the Montpellier midfield, but it was not enough to turn the game in their favour.
