In a thrilling Ligue 1 encounter, Lorient showed their dominance over Lille with a convincing 4-1 victory at the Stade Yves Allenmat - Le Mustuar. The 2-0 scoreline in Lorient's favour at half-time set the tone for the team's dominant play, which they maintained until the final whistle. The match got off to an explosive start as Lorient's Ludivine Abergele opened the scoring as early as the 9th minute. Abergele's goal immediately put Lille ahead and their defence struggled to contain Lorient's attacking action. Just a minute later, Jules Ponceau doubled Lorient's lead with a shot into the near corner, leaving the Lille goalkeeper helpless. Lille's frustration began to show as two of their players, Lamine Yoro and Boubacari Diakite, received yellow cards in the 15th and 27th minutes respectively. These fouls further disrupted Lille's play, allowing Lorient to take control of the game. In the 39th minute, Lille manager Christophe Galtier made his first substitution, bringing on Idriss Miramon instead of Alexandre Gomes. However, this substitution did not bring the desired result and Lorient continued to dominate the match. A minute later, Haraldur Haraldsson replaced Remi Cabella in an attempt to re-energise the Lille attack. The second half started with Lorient's Philippe Pagis receiving a yellow card in the 49th minute, followed by Benjamin Andre in the 51st minute.

In the 55th minute, Lille managed to get back into the game thanks to a goal from Jonathan David, giving hope of a return goal. However, Lorient quickly responded with their first substitution, replacing Jules Ponceau with Jean Makengo in the 59th minute. In addition, Elie Wahi Jean Crupi came on in place of Saikou Doucouré. These changes proved inspirational as Remy Faivre scored Lorient's third goal in the 62nd minute, effectively denying Lille any chance of a comeback. The match was completely under Lorient's control when Vincent Le Goff increased the lead to 4-1 in the 67th minute, putting the game beyond doubt. Lille's frustration continued to mount when Elie Wahi Jean Crupi's goal in the 75th minute was cancelled due to offside. In the closing stages of the match, both teams made further substitutions. Lorient's Remy Faivre was replaced by Jason Mvuku Mugisha in the 76th minute, while for Lille, Edon Jegrove was replaced by Ivan Kavaleiro. Lille also made a fourth substitution in the 84th minute, bringing on Gomes Ismaili in place of Gil Dias. The match ended on an unpleasant note for Lille: Yusuf Yazici received a yellow card in the 87th minute. Despite Lille's best attempts to salvage something in this game, Lorient were outplayed and outclassed.
