The former sporting director of Dnipro-1, Yevhen Krasnikov, has responded to the statements made by the club's honorary president, Yuriy Bereza, against him. As a reminder, the latter criticised the work of Yevhen Krasnikov and Oleksandr Kucher at the club. He blamed the tandem for Dnipro-1's relegation from European competitions.
- Yevgeniy Alekseevich, have you read Yuriy Bereza's interview where he spoke harshly about you and Oleksandr Kucher?
- You know, after we left Dnipro-1, there was a lot of talk about us in the press, on the Internet and elsewhere: both good and bad. You are not the first journalist to call me about this issue.
- And yet, do you have anything to say about the points made in Yuriy Bereza's interview?
- I have not read Bereza's interview. I don't know who Bereza is, I've never seen him and I've never spoken to him.
- How would you assess your and Kucher's work at Dnipro-1?
- The measure of work in football is the result. We managed to create a capable team. Last season, Dnipro-1 fought for the UPL championship until the penultimate round, left the Conference League group, earned money in European competitions, and Dovbyk became the top scorer in the Ukrainian championship. As they say in football: the score is on the board.
- Whose merit is Dovbyk's transfer from Dnipro-1 to Girona?
- First of all, it is the merit of Artem himself, who scored 24 goals last season. But, in addition to being a great footballer, he is also a decent person. Artem could have left as a free agent and got a better contract, and his agent Alexey Lundovsky could have earned a good commission. To Artem's and his agent's credit, he extended his contract with Dnipro-1 and allowed the club where he became a star to earn decent money.
