Andrey Nedelin, Executive Director of Metalist 1925, told us how the Kharkiv club was saved.
"We didn't actually sleep for two weeks. However, the situation turned out for us in the best possible way. We have got a very responsible investor in terms of financial and organisational matters, and we are very happy.
I believe that we need to thank the owners of AES Group, who have been financing the club for 7 years since its establishment. Thanks to these owners, the club has achieved the success we have today - for the third season in a row, we have been playing in the UPL. I believe this is also an achievement of this company.
Vladimir Nosov (the new investor of Metalist 1925) is a Kharkiv resident, a very patriotic person. For us, this is a small victory today. At the right time, there was someone who said: "Yes!".
Everyone understands, more or less, the level of budget that is needed for the life of the team. This is the main team, the U19s, the women's team, and the academy, which is located in Kharkiv, where 200 children are currently training. The structure is quite developed.
To finance it, we need more than one hundred million hryvnias a year. I would like to emphasise that one of the conditions of negotiations with potential investors was that the financing of the entire structure of the club should be the same. At present, the budget has not been reduced by a single cent," Nedelin was quoted as saying by the UPL-TV telegram channel.
