The match started with England's attacks, which managed to seize the initiative quite quickly. Frankly speaking, the first ten minutes of the game were played in Sergei Rebrov's team's half of the pitch, which is also confirmed by the ball possession statistics - 20% to 80% in favour of the British.
But, having withstood serious pressure from the guests, the Ukrainian team managed to realise their first moment in the game! On the 26th minute, the Ukrainians had a wonderful attack on the right flank: Konoplya shot into the centre of the penalty area to the uncovered Zinchenko, and the midfielder only had to shoot from a few meters past Pickford - 1:0! The English, being somewhat shocked by this development of events, immediately rushed to get back. Apart from purely football moments, there were yellow cards for rough play. In particular, Maddison, who played roughly against Zabarny.
However, just before the break Southgate's wards still managed to equalise. In the 41st minute Walker opened up on the right flank and received an incredible pass from Kane at 30 metres. The defender, breaking into the penalty area of the Ukraine national team, easily shot from a metre into the bottom corner of the goal - 1:1.

And here again it was not easy for our team: first Buschan converted a corner shot from the right flank, and a few minutes later Sake prevented Sake from scoring with a fantastic save - after the Dinamo goalkeeper's touch, the ball flew into the crossbar!
Serhiy Rebrov, understanding that the team needed to refresh the game in the centre of the pitch, made a series of substitutions: Sidorchuk and Buyalsky came on the pitch. Our team started to counterattack more boldly, but every time the Ukrainians lacked the last accurate pass, or the finishing blow. In addition, as always, the same Walker looked confident in defence, who did not allow Mudryk to run down the flank several times....
In the end, the Yellow-Blues managed to withstand the final assault on their gates, not allowing the opponents to get another victory in our group. A draw, and our team already has 7 points!
