The summer transfer of Shakhtar winger Tete to Galatasaray continues to be fraught with scandal. After the Miners filed a complaint with FIFA and the ECHR, demanding Tete's disqualification and the recovery of transfer compensation for the player, Galatasaray bosses seem to have realised that the transfer may indeed have been irregular.
In particular, the Turkish press is now reporting that Tete allegedly informed Shakhtar of his desire to suspend his contract with the miners as of 1 July and make his own decisions about his future career, as required by FIFA Annex 7.
However, in practice, neither Shakhtar nor FIFA received Tete's email notification, which was sent by email. Currently, the player and his agent Pablo Bueno are trying to prove that they did inform the Ukrainian club, but the Shakhtarians claim that all the statements made by the Brazilian and his representative on this issue are just fake.
FIFA has already initiated an investigation to verify the authenticity of the email file presented by Tete and his agent as evidence. FIFA mediators are also in contact with both clubs to reach a settlement agreement. "Galatasaray has expressed a willingness to compensate Tete for €2-3 million, while Shakhtar is seeking at least €6-7 million.
In any case, even if it is proved that Tete and his agent forged the documents, Galatasaray believe that this story will not negatively affect the club itself.
