The match started with a flurry of attacks from Italy, and it led to a goal in the 12th minute. After a mistake by Sudakov, Frattesi got the ball and shot from ten metres into the bottom corner of the Ukrainian team's goal - 1:0.
In the future, the Italian national team continued to own full advantage, and the guests could not achieve coherence in their actions in defence, and even more so in attack. And it ended with the second goal by the Italians. In the 29th minute of the game the same Frattesi, having received the ball in the penalty area of the Ukrainian national team after a ricochet, shot into the bottom corner of Buschan's goal. The referee recorded offside, but after the use of VAR system the goal was counted - 2:0.
Only in the end of the first half the Ukraine national team managed to establish the game in attack. But the main thing is that it brought the result. In the 41st minute of the match Yarmolenko played in the penalty area of the Italian national team on Dovbik, he shot on goal, Donnaruma parried this shot, but eventually the ball bounced to the same Yarmolenko, who managed to hit the target - 2:1, with this score the teams went to the break.
The second half of the Ukrainian national team managed better than the first half of the meeting. Tsygankov and Dovbik had dangerous shots on goal for the Italian team. But the Italians had chances to build on their success. So, in the 61st minute of the game Buschan saved his team after Raspadori's shot. And seven minutes later, the ball hit the crossbar of the Ukrainian team's goal.
In general, the whole half passed in a relatively equal struggle, in which the Ukraine national team had chances to avoid defeat. The last such opportunity the "blue-yellow" had in the 85th minute, when the guests' attack was finished by Konoplya with a header from close range, and the ball flew in close proximity to the Italian goal post. But Ukrainians could not achieve more that evening. As a result, 2:1 - victory of the Italian national team.
We would like to add that in the other match of the qualifying group "C" North Macedonia beat Malta away - 2:0. As a result, the current standings of the teams in the group are as follows:
1. England - 13 points (5 matches)
2. Italy - 7 (4)
3. Ukraine - 7 (5)
4. North Macedonia - 7 (5)
5. Malta - 0 (5)
We would like to add that in the next round in qualifying group "C" will play: Ukraine - North Macedonia, Italy - Malta. Both matches will take place on 14 October.
