Expert and coach Oleg Fedorchuk commented on the fact that global spending on the acquisition of footballers is constantly growing.
- There are several factors that influence the growth of costs in world football. First, the emergence of Arab countries on the global market. Sheikhs have a surplus of money and decided to play big football. The second factor is American money coming into the English league, in particular, Liverpool, Chelsea, and so on. The third is the English league itself, which is showing tremendous financial success. This league is able to make a lot of money, and its example is already being followed by Italy, where Chinese funds have started to enter, Germany and even France. True, France has high taxes on high salaries, which is detrimental to football, but they are trying to work in the English way.
- Is it good for football to have such money coming in?
- There are two sides of the coin here. On the one hand, it's good because many clubs get richer and football gets an additional impetus for development. On the other hand, this money, in particular Arab or American money, takes the best players from European football to their non-competitive championships. Ronaldo, Neymar - to Arabia, Messi - to the United States. Okay, so they are old players, but the Arabs are also taking young promising players from Europe. These players could have done wonders in the Champions League, but instead they will play in Asian championships.
- Will Ukraine benefit from this money boom ?
- We stand aside. But this should be a signal for us to rebuild the structure of football clubs to meet English standards. For example, the Scandinavians, Balkans, and Poles are already trying to work like in England. They are already earning some money. We have post-oligarchic football now. That is, clubs no longer receive huge funds from the outside, and we have not yet learnt to earn money ourselves. That's why we're in decline.
