Ukraine's U-17 national team (players born in 2007) has completed a training camp in the capital, during which it played four friendly matches.
Vladimir YezerskyAt the V. Bannikov Training and Research Complex, the blue and yellows lost to Kolos U-19 - 1-3 and Shakhtar U-19 - 1-2, and defeated Dnipro-1 U-17 - 4-0 and Metalist 1925 U-19 - 1-0. Head coach Volodymyr Yezerskyi spoke about the results of the training camp:
- First of all, I am grateful to the UAF for the fact that at such a time this training camp was held at all. We had good conditions for full-fledged work. Our national team is preparing for the qualifying round of the European Championship, and we need to understand the current realities regarding players of our age and younger. It is difficult to make selections, assess the readiness and level of players, as the DUFL competitions are just beginning, and this is mainly at the regional level. Therefore, I am glad that during the training process we managed to hold four sparring matches, they were very useful, as many candidates for our national team also played in the opponents' squads.
I am pleased that in these matches we managed to involve not only Dynamo and Shakhtar players, but also representatives of other teams from different regions. And I can say that at least five or six players from this squad can help the Ukrainian national team in the Euro qualifying round. Of course, we are extremely short of such meetings with the boys. For example, the German national team of this age has already played about 40 matches, while the Finnish team has played a little less. At the same time, we understand the reality and are trying to get out of this situation. Based on the results of the training camp, we need to correctly determine the squad for the official matches that await our team in October.
