Yesterday, on 21 September, Luhansk-based Zorya drew with Belgian side Ghent (1-1) in the first round of the Conference League group stage. As it turned out, the Ukrainian club violated the tournament regulations.
The fact is that all clubs participating in the group round of the Conference League must sew the tournament logo on the right sleeve of their uniforms. However, for some reason, Zorya did not do so.
"Starting from the group stage, the UEFA Conference League patch must be on the free area of the right sleeve of the shirt. This provision applies to all clubs except the title holder. The UEFA Conference League patch may not be worn in any other competition or at any preliminary stage of a competition. Multiple winners of the UEFA Europa League (three times in a row or at least five times) will receive the UEFA Europa League multiple winner badge," reads Article 58 of the tournament regulations.
It should be added that Belgian Gent, in turn, did not violate the regulations, as they played with the LC patch on the right sleeve of their uniform.
